Georgette Vela

School Director

Miss Georgette Vela is committed to excellence in education and is dedicated to students, parents and Mariner Montessori community. She has extensive experience in early childhood education. Her passion of the Montessori philosophy of teaching and directing Montessori school has extended over the 28 years of her career in education. She had been serving as the director of the Village Montessori School, Houston, for over 10 years until the school closed in July, 2018. Prior to this, Georgette was an assistant director for 11 years, and she was a lead Montessori teacher of this school for 7 years. She holds AMI Montessori Administrator certificate and the AMI Montessori Teacher certificate.


Harvin Moore

Mariner Montessori Advisor

Harvin works in technology and education venture capital, but has been involved in K12 education for 27 years, beginning with tutoring in Manhattan and Houston, and later in other volunteer and board positions.  In 1997 he joined the founding board of KIPP charter school and served as Treasurer & Vice Chairman as KIPP grew to be a national organization.  In November 2003, the voters of Houston elected Harvin to the HISD Board of Education, and he was re-elected three times, serving for more than 13 years.  Harvin now serves on the boards of several educational organizations including KIPP and TXRX Labs, a non-profit STEM maker space and education support organization.


Fatima Villegas

Montessori Lead teacher

Miss Fatima has more than 12 years of experience working with Miss Georgette in a Montessori school. She is a certified Montessori teacher from North American Montessori Center. She also has a strong background in S.T.E.A.M. curriculum that fits perfectly with our school’s direction.
